What age can children start fishing?
Children can start as young as 3–4 with supervision. Most fisheries welcome children; some have specific junior pegs or kids' sessions.
Do children need a fishing licence?
Under-13s fish free in England and Wales. 13–16 year olds also fish free. The adult rod licence is required from 17.
What equipment do we need?
A basic float rod, line, hooks, and a small landing net covers most family fishing. Many fisheries hire out rods. Breaks flags hire availability in your plan.
