Siurana in Catalonia is the standout — a medieval village perched above a gorge, with 300+ routes on featured limestone from 5c to 9b. Margalef, an hour away, offers steep pocket climbing and legendary long routes. The Costa Blanca around Calpe and Sella has gentler grades and near-guaranteed winter sun, making it ideal for intermediate climbers and those learning outdoors.
When to go
October to April is the season for coastal Spain. The summer is too hot for most crags. Siurana and Margalef are north-facing and manage better in warmer months, but October to June is ideal. The Costa Blanca works November to March.

Do I need my own draws?
Yes — a set of 12–15 quickdraws covers most single-pitch routes in Spain. Ropes can sometimes be hired locally.
Which airport do I fly into?
Barcelona (BCN) for Siurana and Margalef. Alicante (ALC) for the Costa Blanca. Both have frequent budget flights from the UK.
